Make learning the Bible fun – a review of Bible games for kids from Bible Games Central.

One thing that has always been an important part of our home is making sure that we keep Christ as the center and foundation of all that we do.
As such, we are intentional about teaching our children truths from the Bible and about the Bible itself.
Just like any other subject lessons we teach around here, I try to make Bible learning fun and engaging for the boys. That means we are all about hands-on activities, crafts, and games.
So when Bible Games Central reached out to review some of their new Bible Games for kids, it was a no-brainer for me. Specifically, we were able to try out Bible Bingo, Parable Parade, and Bible Memory Game.
Each of these games is recommended for ages 6 and up, however my 5 year old was able to play them without much assistance once learning the rules. And our 3 year old was able to join in on the fun with parental help.
We’ve been using these games in our home now for several weeks and they have been fun for all of us.

BIBLE BINGO
The first game we played was Bible Bingo. The object of this game is to get 5 books of the Bible in a row on your BINGO card.
The Bible Bingo game includes 24 double-sided playing cards, 400 plastic game chips, and 66 illustrated, color coded calling cards, and a quick guide that contains game instructions and an overview and details about each section of the Bible.
Each game card is divided into eight color coded sections that correspond to the calling cards: from the Old Testament – History, Law, Poetry, Major Prophets, and Minor Prophets, and from the New Testament: Gospels, Letters from Paul, and General Letters and Prophecy.
As a parent, I loved this because not only does it help familiarize the boys with the books of the Bible themselves, but also helps identify WHERE they belong in the Bible.
(And to be honest, while I learned all the books of the Bible as a kid, learning these specific categories was something that I vaguely remembered. So it has been a fun review for me, too!)
We love playing this one as a family! Because the calling cards are both color coded and illustrated, the boys are able to determine whether or not they have that Bible book on their game card each turn.
And with so many game cards, no game is ever the same.
The boys have had fun making their own versions of Bible BINGO, too. Sometimes we’ll play to 5 in a row, other times, we’ll try to complete a specific section, filling the whole game card, or if we’re feeling particularly ambitious, we’ll play with 2 game cards each during the same game.

BIBLE MEMORY GAME
Bible Memory Game is a Bible based spin off the classic memory match game.
This game includes 132 illustrated and color-coded cards (66 pairs, one for each book of the Bible). Like Bible Bingo, this is a fun game help learn the books of the Bible and how those books are organized.
We have played this once with all 132 cards, but to be honest, that is very overwhelming for my boys at their ages. Since we are just beginning to learn the books of the Bible, we pick a few books at a time (between 10 and 15 usually) and match those.
Another suggestion from Bible Games Central is to allow matches to count so long as the cards are from the same section of the Bible. For example, Matthew and Luke would be considered a pair as they are both from the New Testament Gospels section.
This would be another way to increase your odds of getting a match and focus on learning more about the Bible organization.
We really appreciate that this game is so versatile so we can accommodate the ages and number of players we have.
The boys have really enjoyed playing this one!
PARABLE PARADE
Unlike the first two games that teach the books of the Bible, the last game, Parable Parade, helps teach 12 parables of Jesus, or stories that Jesus told to help his audience understand spiritual truths.
The 12 parables included in this game are:
The Hidden Treasure (Matthew 13:44)
The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37)
The Sower and the Seeds (Matthew 13:1-23)
The Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13)
The Unmerciful Servant (Matthew 18:21-35)
The Wise and Foolish Builders (Matthew 7:24-29)
The Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)
The Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14)
The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)
This was one of our favorite games! It involves a little more strategy than the others and is really fun to teach stories from the Bible.
Parable Parade includes 100 game cards (parable cards, kingdom cards, and oopsie cards) and 12 parable summary and explanation cards – one for each parable.
The object of the game is to complete as many parable sets as you can. Each parable has 4 illustrated cards that tell the story and complete that set.
Throughout the game, players can steal opponents’ parable cards and collect kingdom cards However, you need to be careful; drawing an oopsie card will require you to give up some of your cards.
Once the game is over, the player with the most completed parables is declared the winner. Each player though, gets to share the parables they completed and tell the story using the illustrations and the summary cards.
This is not only a fun game to play, but also a really great way to learn more about the parables of Jesus and to understand the truths hidden in each of them.
