DIY Essential Oil Summer Skin Care Recipes with Simply Earth

I know it’s not technically summer yet, but it definitely feels like it around here! We’ve already taken our first beach trip, with a few more on the calendar, and we are spending lots of time on the go.

And while we love adventures around here, earlier this week, I shared some simple ways that I’m embracing slow motherhood in this season.  Basically, trying to be intentional with our going about and focusing less on busy and more on balance.  Being present in the day to day.

Our Review

When I got this box, I knew immediately that it would be one of my favorites.  I took one afternoon while the boys were napping and got to work making almost all of the recipes.  (I skipped the hair spray mostly because I usually wear my hair straight.  BUT, it’s on my list to make this summer when I don’t feel like using the hair dryer – it’s super simple to put together!

Hibiscus Skin Repair Bath Salts

This was the first recipe that I made from this box.  I love to take a good relaxing bath from time to time, so I already had some epsom salt on hand.  I used a small glass mason jar that I had to mix up the ingredients.

In hindsight, I should have just used a regular sized mason jar because this little one ended up PACKED.

I actually had to “mix” the ingredients with a toothpick and then shake it up once I put the lid on.  Lesson learned.

BUT, it smells incredible.  It’s so relaxing and frankly, the perfect addition to your bath to unwind in the summer.

Hibiscus Frozen Facial

While I had the hibiscus flowers out, I went ahead and made the frozen facial using an ice tray we had at home.  The ice cubes came out just lovely, but the verdict is still out on how much I love the frozen facial.  I think I’m mostly nervous about staining my clothes with the flowers.  Or maybe I’m just not a frozen facial girl?

Either way, fun to make and I’ll be giving it another try soon!

Summer Day Diffuser Blend

Each Simply Earth essential oils recipe box includes a diffuser blend for the month.  And this one is perfect for making your home smell like summer.  I think it’s the grapefruit oil that is so fragrant, but it smells excellent.  The perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

After Sun Blend

The after sun blend is another that I’ve enjoyed using this month.  It’s primary ingredient is the aloe vera, which we all know is good for after sun skin care.

It’s also go water, head soothing essential oil blend, and palmarosa essential oil.

It smells light and fresh and it’s so refreshing for your skin – not greasy at all.  I used the spray bottle for this blend and it is easy to keep it in the fridge to use after coming in from a day in the sun.

Travel Buddy Roll On

Lastly, the travel buddy roll on is a great blend to have on hand for digestion support and headache relief.  I used one of the roller bottles that was included in my bonus box earlier (see the full contents of the bonus box in this post) to make this blend.

Like the other blends, its smells great and is easy to roll on without being greasy or too heavy on your skin.
