Happy Friday, friends; I hope you’ve had a really great week!

We missed last week’s Friday post over here because last week was wild over here.  Hubs was traveling for work until late Thursday night and as much as I wanted to highlight our week on Friday, I just didn’t find the time to get it together.

But, we’re back this week rocking and rolling and I’m excited to be continuing with Friday faves.  It’s always a fun way for me to share some of the things going on over here and recap the week. (Plus, it’s a good way for me to intentionally take stock of things I’m grateful for as we go about the week.

And this is the last weekend in February, which is crazy to me.  Looking at our calendar, it looks like we’re full steam ahead from here until Spring and while I”m not mad about it, it’s also a reminder for me to get organized and stay on top of things in the next few weeks.

But – here’s what we have been up to this week:

Family Adventure Day

Hubs had off work on Monday for President’s Day and after him being gone most of last week, and spending some time with our extended family over the weekend, we decided late on Sunday night to take the boys out for a fun, family adventure on Monday morning.  We made it a day trip and drove up to Greensboro to visit Greensboro Science Center again.

We went last year for the first time and Little LOVED it.  So I was excited to take him back and now when the Littlest can also get around and enjoy it too!

It was such a fun day!  I’m hoping to share it in more detail ASAP on the blog, but you can check out last year’s trip in this post.

Totally worth it.

Birthday Party Celebrations

This week is bookended on both sides by family birthdays, which has been really fun.  We celebrated with Hubs’s family last weekend for his brother’s birthday and we’re celebrating my dad’s birthday this weekend.

It is always such a fun time to have the family together and the boys LOVE all the extra attention from grandparents and their aunts and uncles.  We have so much to be thankful for.

Rainy Day Sensory Fun

While Monday was the PERFECT weather for being outside, Wednesday found us cold (stayed in the 30s) all day and rainy.  I knew we were stuck inside and really wanted to make the most of it, so I grabbed an extra jar of oats, dumped them in to a plastic bin – grabbed some scooping tools (read: measuring cups, plastic cups, ice cream scoops, and spoons), tossed in some shapes from the shape sorter and just like that, I had my first sensory bin.

Actually, it’s crazy to think that I hadn’t done this before.  I did buy the oats for this purpose, but hadn’t gotten around to it.  But y’all.  The boys played TOGETHER for a long time.

At least, it felt like a really long time.  It got us to an early lunch and nap, so major win over here.

I also used this recipe to start some rainbow rice for other bins.  We made purple this week, but we plan to add other colors next week.  (I had been putting off rainbow rice because it looked messy to make.  It’s totally easy and why haven’t I done this before?!)

So, moral of the story – I am here for sensory bins on rainy days.

Gearing Up for St. Patrick’s Day

aka the best time for blog traffic over here.  If you’ve been around here for a while, you might have seen this leprechaun sand post last year.

It was a total last minute science experiment that I did with Little and it went crazy on the blog.  I was curious to see if it would have the same sort of popularity this year and I’m glad to report that it does.

St. Patrick’s Day isn’t even my favorite holiday (don’t hate it, but don’t make a big deal of it, either), but man.  This post is by far the most popular – especially this time of year.

If you are looking for a fun and St. Patrick’s Day activitybe sure you check it out.  And if you REALLY want to help a blogger out, you can share it with your friends, or pin it so that others can also enjoy it!
