If you’ve been around here for a while you’ve probably heard me talk about Date Night In Boxes. It’s a subscription date night box that has helped us tremendously when it comes to prioritizing Date Nights in our home.
You’ve also probably noticed that even though the boxes are monthly, it takes us more than one date to get through the whole thing, so we tend to stay on one date box for a while. Coming back to it for the next activity or conversation starter again and again.
In a go-go-go world, these boxes are a fun way for us to stop what we’re doing and reconnect with one another without leaving the house.
Today, I want to share our February Date Night In Box. It’s late, but it’s good so I don’t want to skip it.
We received this Date Night In Box for review. All opinions and experiences are mine alone. This post contains affiliate links. That means that I will earn a commission if you click through and make purchases through those links. Please see disclosure for more information.
A Little Background: What is Date Night in Box?
If you haven’t been around here and seen our other Date Night in Boxes, I’ll catch you up a bit.
Date Night in Box is a subscription service that sends a pre-planned date night at home right to your door each month. Each box has a new, fun theme and includes all the supplies you need to make your date happen.
It’s got suggested a menu and recipes to help, a custom playlist for Spotify to help set the mood, conversation starters, and games and activities.
If you are looking for a great way to connect with your spouse and strengthen your marriage, but are having a hard time getting out of the house for date night for whatever reason, Date Night in Boxes might be for you!
Key To My Heart Box: What’s in the Box?
The Key to My Heart box was more of a Parisian theme and the things in this box centered around that. This month’s box included:
- Date Night discussion guide (with suggested menu, playlist, conversation starters, directions for each activity, as well as additional themed ideas you could do for future dates – hello no more wondering what you can do for your next date night!)
- Blank stationery and envelopes
- Aroma beads wax melts – that smell SO good. You can melt them in a wax warmer or even just open them nearby to enjoy them!
- Five Love Languages quiz – based off of this book by Gary Chapman – highly recommend.
- Parisian Password Game cards
- Chocolate Crepes
- Key to My Heart Adventure Activity
- A special story about heart health in partnership with the American Heart Association (since February is also American Heart Month)
Our Date(s)
Even though this date was sent for February, our February was PACKED. Looking back on it now, it’s hard to totally remember what all we did, but there was some cross-country work travel for Hubs, two family birthdays, Valentine’s Day, and some sick days with the boys.
So, we started this box in March and ended up breaking it up over several mini date nights into April.
Date Night Food & Table Talk
I always look forward to see what treat will be included in the box. This month’s box included individually wrapped chocolate crepes. We popped them in the microwave for a few seconds and they were yummy!
The dinner menu was specially crafted full of heart healthy foods from Marina Makes, and my favorite was the frozen chocolate covered bananas. (Mostly because I love sweet treats and this was a good reminder to me of a fun idea to “cook” with Little this summer!)
Next, we moved to the table talk part of our date. I always enjoy seeing the conversation starters included in our Date Night in Boxes because they are a good way for me to get my mind on something other than the kids after being home with them all day long. In keeping with the heart theme, this month’s table talk was all about healthy habits that you and your spouse can work on developing or nurturing together. Many of which we definitely have some room for in our home; 7-8 hours of sleep each night? Hello, my dream! Cooking together, reducing stress – and now we’re talking. (Cooking together actually is a really fun date night idea, by the way.)
Date Night Games & Activities
Later, we spent an afternoon playing the included games in our Date Night in Box while the boys napped. This box had 2 games – a Parisian password game, which was my favorite, and a “Key to My Heart Adventure” game which was modeled after an escape room.
The password game included several cards with Paris themed words (people, places, things) and you had to go back and forth giving clues until the other person guessed the password. We had to pass on some of them, but for the most part were able to guess them with help from one another!
The adventure game asked us to go back in time to 1919 after France had been at war and we had been separated from our love. We used the clues on each card to help discover the details of our reunion. Once we figured out the first couple of cards, the next came pretty easily.
We were supposed to exchange our love letters to one another at the end of this one, but we’re saving those probably for our anniversary. The stationery was so pretty and I’d love to use it for something special!
Love Languages Quiz
By far my favorite part of the Key to My Heart Date Night in Box was the included love languages quiz. If you haven’t heard of The 5 Love Languages before, they are based off of a book by Dr. Gary Chapman and refer to the 5 most common ways individuals give and receive love. The love languages include: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. (There is also a 5 Love Languages of Children book that’s on my list!)
Hubs and I had done a quiz like this before many years ago. But, I think our love languages have changed a little as we find ourselves in a new season of life. I was shocked to see that our love languages were really similar.
Both of us value quality time and acts of service pretty highly and this provided for some good conversation about how we can prioritize that in our marriage.
One of the big takeaways for me from this conversation is that Hubs feels well served by things that I might consider mundane chores around here. When I asked him what were some ways I could serve him, he quickly told me that me taking care of our home, planning meals, etc. meant a lot to him.
Hearing this has helped me to try to shift the way I think about homemaking and chores. Rather than simply something else on the list, or a mundane task that has to get done, I can remember that my work as a stay-at-home mom is valuable and a tangible way to show love to my husband and my family.
And I needed that reminder. (I still need that reminder – even typing it here…)
Our Final Thoughts
Another successful Date Night in Box over here! Overall, my favorite parts of this box were the playlist (that I still listen to, just like every month’s box), and the Love Languages quiz.
Date Night in Box has been so good to us in providing us low-key, easy to “plan” (aka pre-planned) date nights that we can enjoy from our home while the kids are napping or after they’ve gone to bed.
They are a great way to invest in our marriage and something that we look forward to doing together.
If you’re looking for a great way to reconnect with your spouse or to start being more intentional about date night together, I highly recommend giving Date Night in Box a try!

I love the idea of being so intentional about date nights and connecting. It’s so easy to put that on the back burner with kids
I love the idea of conversation starters! It’s sometimes hard to know what to talk about after all these years, we know so much already about each other. This sounds fun!
