Wow. How in the world are we already almost half way done with August? It sounds like small talk to say that, but it’s true just the same. The time is FLYING by and whether we’re ready for it or not, it will be fall before we know it (for the record, I’m ready for it).
If you’ve been here any length of time, you know that one of the things we enjoy over here is our monthly subscription box with Simply Earth Essential Oils. Essential Oils are something that until earlier this year, I really hadn’t used at all, but over the past several months, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about incorporating them into our lives and home thanks to Simply Earth.
And today, I’m excited to share August’s recipe box with you.
This post is in collaboration with Simply Earth and contains affiliate links. As you know, I only partner with brands and products that I use and love and all experiences and opinions are my own. You can use my code ML20FREE to receive a $40 gift card to Simply Earth with your first box purchase!
Simply Earth Essential Oils Skincare Box
This month’s box is all about skincare and is full of easy, simply recipes to help clear your skin and keep it at it’s best! It’s designed to create a full six-step skincare process. So, if you want to, you can make it into a full on spa-day at home with these all-natural DIY recipes.
That said, because I’m still nursing the littlest over here (we’re working on weaning – and that’s a story for another day), but it’s really important for me to be careful with which essential oils I use. Thankfully, Simply Earth makes it VERY simple to understand which oils are safe and recommended for this season.
You can find safety information printed on each bottle of oil, or on their website if you check the details for the single oils, or in their free Essential Oils for Beginners eBook. (Because I’ve been breastfeeding for so long and because I’m still relatively new to essential oils, I use this as a reference for each oil that I use.)
*Also, it’s important to always talk to your doctor or physician if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or have any other health concerns for any questions regarding essential oils.
To make sure we could get the most out of this box, I called over my sister to help make these recipes and she got to take many of the goodies home with her! Nothing like a shared spa day with sisters!

Our All-Natural Spa Day with Simply Earth
In the spirit of full transparency, I’m using the term “spa day” loosely here. My sister came over one afternoon while Hubs was traveling and my youngest was napping. My oldest was playing in the living room next to us. So we didn’t have time to get to every recipe and our spa day was filled with less instrumental music and more preschool songs. But I don’t think we would have had it any other way.
Feel Good Morning Diffuser
Anytime I get an box from Simply Earth, I always go straight to the diffuser recipe first. It’s always simple, always refreshing. Since I was using this box mostly as a treat for my sister, we made this blend in one of the glass bottles from the Bonus Box (free with your first subscription box and FULL of extra supplies for your essential oil recipes!) for her to take home.
This one was a blend of frankincense, rosemary, and clove and is perfect for helping you wake up and feel refreshed in the morning.
Hydrosol Facial Toner
Toner is a skincare step that I too often skip around here, if I’m honest. When I do think about toning my skin, witch-hazel is usually my go-to. This simple toner recipe is really great for helping remove excess dirt and oil from your skin.
It calls for the lavender hydrosol and distilled water with apple cider vinegar optional. I don’t love the smell of ACV on my skin, but it really does a good job of making my skin feel clean and balanced. But, if you absolutely can’t stand it, there is nothing wrong with leaving it out. The hydrosol also works well!
Frankincense Face Scrub
Who doesn’t love a good face scrub? A good oatmeal or sugar scrub always feels so luxurious to me and I forget how simple they can be to put together!
For this recipe, the oatmeal, brown sugar, and honey were not included, but I had them on hand in my pantry. And I was able to use the almond oil from the Bonus Box from Simply Earth back when I got my first box.
The Bonus Box comes with your first subscription box and is FULL of extra supplies such as bottles, carrier oils, etc. that can be used for additional recipes. The whole box is carefully curated with extras that you can use for the next SEVERAL months’ worth of subscription boxes from Simply Earth. Each month, I go back to the bonus box for supplies. Get your’s here as well as a $40 gift card for future use at Simply Earth when you use my code ML20FREE!
Clear Skin Roll On
This one is more of a use when needed blend – specifically for blemishes. It was super simple to make since the clear skin blend in this box already includes specific oils that help clear away zits and blemishes (tea tree, sandalwood, cedarwood, juniper berry, and lemon).
For this recipe, all we needed to do was add the blend into a roller with a carrier oil and we were all set.
My sister has been using this one and so far so good!
Get Your Own Essential Oils Recipe Box
