It’s no secret that our world is noisy.  We are constantly surrounded by messages that tell us how we should look or dress.   There are messages that tell us what we should eat and where we should shop.  Who we should be.  It can be hard to fight through those messages and to sift through what is real and true and good.

As parents, it’s especially important to us that we teach our children from an early age that their identity can be found securely in Christ.  The Bible is full of declarations that tell us who we are in Christ.  Declarations that we can trust and hold onto and I want to do my best to be sure that our children are grounded in those truths early on.

I’ve talked before over here about the power of words and praying scripture for our children.  But what does it look like on a day to day basis to actually impress these truths to our kids?

One very simple way to do this is to simply speak the truth of God’s word over them in a simple, straightforward way that they can understand.

I received a complimentary copy of You Are in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.  For more information, please see full disclosure.

You Are: A Book of Declarations

I was recently given the opportunity to review an excellent board book, You Are: A Book of Declarations by Emily Assell and Generation Claimed.

This board book is perfect for little ones.  It’s a great, sturdy board book that is great for little hands, and strong enough to withstand even the roughest toddler.  Each page has sweet little forest animals that capture and hold kids’ attention.  (They are a BIG hit around here since Little loves all things animals these days.)

We’ve been reading You Are often in our home.  I love that Little (and soon enough Hug when he’s old enough to understand) are getting the truth down deep in their little hearts.

This book contains 9 declarations about who we are in Christ, each with a supporting scripture.  It’s easy to tell our kids that they are loved – because they are.  It’s easy to tell them that they are gifted – because they are.  But, it’s a whole other thing to show them where it says that in scripture.  These are verses that they can cling onto as they grow up and are confronted with all sorts of messages that might try to tell them otherwise.

I totally agree!! We love the book so much here & I love the truth it is teaching our boys!

  2. This is a great book. Any child would benefit from this and I love that it’s simple enough for little ones to grasp. I recently started teaching my son to pray and to be grateful for each day we are alive to live in this paradise and while I can tell him all that he needs to know, I think it’s important for him to see God’s creation whether in a form of a book or a toy.
